Timana Tahu is set to quit the Eels and the NRL today, whilst Parra begin their search for a new centre. NRL Live understands that Timana needs to deal with a few personal issues, and the Eels won't have a problem money wise as his departure frees up a fair bit of cash. The announcement is expected today and puts an end to Timana's up and down re entry to league.

Mundine calls out the NRL 'haters'
Anthony Mundine has spoken out about the NRL's power play to stop Inglis signing with the Bunnies, calling it 'haterism' of himself and Big Rusty. NRL Live reckons as usual he has some kind of point when he says the league is lucky to have a supporter like Russ, but he also has a fight coming up this week, so everything he says may be taken with a pinch of salt.

How the Broncos do the 3rd party loophole dance
NRL Live wrote a bit yesterday that it's the job of the clubs to find loopholes because of the salary cap. It happens at every club and while it may look like the lines between wrong and right are blurred it is part and parcel of the game when contract money is restricted. The NRL set up the rule that 3rd party agreements are unlimited so they have to live with it. The Broncos, always ahead of the game in the murky grey area of loopholes (look at their playing rosters over the last decade) said in an article in the tele back in August how they did it. Non sponsor 3rd party agreements are unlimited. I'll repeat it to make it simple. Non sponsor third party agreements are unlimited. Easy!!!!! Plenty of wealthy NRL fans out there....
NRL to look at Crowe link to payments
Your Old Mate here at nrlliveblog.com can't see what the problem is - seems Rusty is pulling some strings and that's what people should expect. It'd be like having a good mate work at an airline and not get you a discount ticket every now and again....Anyway, the NRL (who like WA are a fair bit behind the times) will be investigating whether or not Russell Crowe's links to ANZ stadium, Ben Hur, the V8 supercars and channels 9 & 7 have anything to do with Souths players being awarded third party deals with the events / channels. Crowe has numerous affiliated entertainment companies and the NRL, who say it has nothing to do with the Inglis deal are looking into it after receiving a tip off (from a Souths fan allegedly). Until next time, NRL Live over and out.

NRL to change salary cap over Inglis deal / no deal
On the NRL Live Blog website we are gonna add a "Captain Obvious" category, where this will fit right in.The NRL has figured out that clubs are bending the third party agreement rules to fit players under the cap. I would never have guessed. Skirting around rules is part and parcel of the sport and the majority of clubs do it in one way or the other. Don't be blinded - your club does it too. And they will keep doing it until someone gets caught and then they have to find another avenue to do it. SO the Inglis deal is hitting more roadblocks than an Iraqi driving to work. After Bunnies CEO Richo said on three occassions they couldn't afford Inglis a Souths fan (YES, Souths fan) has taken issue with his statements and the accounting methods of the club in signing quite a few big names and gone to the NRL demanding an explanation. Doesn't look good for G.I in the red n green. Roy Masters has written a great article on it here

Eels move on Inglis
It's being reported that Parra are slithering around Greg Inglis after Timana Tahu asked for an extended break and the NRL has yet to ratify Inglis's Souths deal. More to come...
2010 Roosters player fingered in Cowboys betting scandal
NRL Live Blog can only shake his head. 2010 Roosters u/20's half back Brad Murray has been fingered as the player the cops want to speak to in regards to a big plunge on the Bulldogs / Cowboys match last year. I say fingered because whether he is a big punter or not, it seems he is doing someone else's dirty work. His manager is Sam Ayoub who is rumoured to be front and centre of the betting scandal. Murray will no doubt face a ban if all comes to light. He has signed for the Eels in 2011.
Tit for Tat - Souths reassure fans over Inglis contract
F*ck me this is going on and on like a shitty plot line on Home and Away. First the NRL started giving out Please Explains to the rabbits over the GI deal, now Bunnies CEO Shane Richardson has reassured fans AGAIN that it's all above board. NRL Live reckons they should just meet up and sort this shit out. How easy would that be....

Another Burgess to join Bunnies?
It's being reported that George Burgess, the youngest of Sam's brothers has signed with the Bunnies on a season long loan from Bradford. NRL Live reckons it is very possible but won't link to anything until it becomes official.Maybe pop over to the burrow and see the speculation for yourself. These rumours have been swirling for a while now but whatever the case, George is 18 and probably a bit off playing first grade just yet so it's not like Inglis has just been frogmarched off Redfern Oval or anything.
Dickie Knee - New Chooks Recruit Out for 6 months
NRL Live feels like yelling OUCH upon hearing that Anthony Watts (Rooster-Sharkie-Cowboy-Rooster) has been ruled out for a minimum of 6 months after tearing his ACL in a training drill. Watts signed on a 3 year deal after impressing as a hooker/half super sub at the Cowboys last year. Chookies fans will be hoping he doesn't lose any of the zip that has seen him become highly effective running from dummy half at tiring forwards.
Pommy Roby turns dowm NRL, Graham not sure
NRL Live sees that English hooker / half James Roby has turned down interest from NRL clubs to resign with St Helens, pleasing coach Royce Simmons. James Graham, the ginger ninja front rower similar in playing style to Rodney Howe, is the other Pom with big interest in the NRL. He has yet to put pen to paper....

Braith to Fly Chook Pen
Some NRL Live news that goes to show that club contracts are about as binding as a piece of chewy on the road. It has been reported that the Cowboys have formally asked for permission to open talks with Braith Anasta to join the them for the 2011 season. After such a great season in 2010 it seems unlikely that Anasta will shift base to T-Ville, the only reason NRL Live sees is if the Roosters have a squeeze on the salary cap or there is a multi year offer that will let Braith play out his career in Australia.
Rusty emails Inglis contract to NRL
News today from NRL Live is that the Bunnies have lodged a G.I's contract with the NRL, albeit via email. Will Gallop decide to take on the mouth, money and Gladatorial might of Russell Crowe, or was he just all bluff?

Rabbits hop to defend Inglis deal
Here at NRL Live we have been enjoying the drama over at Redfern- it keeps NRL News in the headlines. David Gallop has put on his sternest face when addressing the media and Big Rusty has been shooting from the lip. Officially now though, Souths have hosed down any suggestion that G.I will not be at the club next season. CEO Shane Richardson said that he was absolutely positive that the superstar would have his contract resolved in the next few days.

Inglis not part of rabbit stew
In NRL news, David Gallop will not sanction Greg Inglis' deal at the rabbits and he will not be a bunny in 2011. Backing up the tough talk, a few bunnies are going to have to leave the burrow....
Toyota Cup Player cops 2 year ban
Kurt Foggo, a Gold Coast Toyota Cup player, has received a 2 year ban after testing positive to a stimulant. While not a steroid, NRL Live cant have any sympathy. Old Mate here, believes recreational drugs should be OK, but the stuff that makes you quicker and stronger is a no no.

Independent Commission is close....
The NRL's first independent commission that will deal with the state of the game and the major issues moving into the future is close to fruition. Your Old Mate regards this NRL news much like a new team in the comp. New name but to start with it's the same old heads from the upper echelons of power with a few old heads thrown in. BUT, it is a start. I wouldn't expect too much initially people, but the first step is the hardest.

Warning: Irony Alert - Poms complain about player drain
Some twit from SuperLeague has spoken out about the NRL luring the best English players away from the Pommy game at the height of their powers. Excuse me while I slap myself in the face with a great big stick of irony. But don't worry pal, we will only take your best.

Gallop's trying to be Hard, But Greg's Still a Bunny
David Gallop attempted to talk tough concerning GI's contract at the Bunnies- not released, short form contracts, still a Storm player, blah blah blah. NRL Live knows what's up Davo: He's gone, and he isn't going back. You're only saying this to stop other players reneging on not so done deals.

Bunnies rejoice 3 year Inglis deal
Greg Inglis has put pen to paper on a 3 year deal with the Bunnies. Normal fans and those in the Burrow are over the moon, hoping Inglis can be the missing link that catapults them into top four contenders. NRL live wonders reckons this could be the signing of the decade but the stench of expectation is strong....
